The Martial Arts were originally aimed towards life preservation and self-defense, but today people come from all walks of life, each with their own set of reasons for wanting to train. At the Hiryu Bushido Kai Martial Arts and Wellness Center, our children’s programs are second to none. You see, we realize that although the ability to defend oneself is important, there are far more important benefits to be had from involving your child in a Martial Arts program. That’s why our unique program of work and fun is designed to instill:

By embodying the above principles into our children’s self -defense classes, H.B.K. has made a strong commitment to the development of today’s youth. Starting ages 6 and up, our structured programs will improve your child’s performance in other sports as well as improving study habits and concentration.

What We Teach
Our emphasis is on SHOTOKAN style Karate, which is the most popular Japanese style in the world. In this approach, straight, powerful technique is dominant. We also teach technique from other Martial arts such as JUDO and AIKIDO. These techniques are taught in our extensive self-defense program which runs parallel to the shotokan instruction. In order to ensure recognition for this extra effort and knowledge we refer to this area of study as JU KI DO, and give certificates in this name as well as in shotokan karate. Our intention is to develop a well rounded student in the Martial Arts, therefore exposure to a variety of techniques and principles is very important. Under the Jukido section, students will be asked to study a weapon as well. This will assist in their understanding of empty hand technique. It is advisable that you discuss weapons with the Shihan before you commence with your studies in this area. |
