Wednesday night was a special night of presentations and surprise promotions. Black gi's were awarded to the people who graded for black belt last April. With their internship year complete, Dave Yurichuk, Bob Goulding, Patrick Goulding, and Patrick Britton are now officially Sensei's. Shihan promoted Shihan Dai Norrish to 5th degree so Shihan Dai will now be referred to as Shihan. But don't worry, it won't be confusing because Kancho Okuyama promoted Shihan to 7th degree black belt and from now on he will be referred to as Kyoshi, a term which means Teacher of Teachers. All in all, a very interesting evening. You can find photos in the Special Events section in the photographs section.

Shihan recently attended a couple of workshops taught by his instructor, Kancho Okuyama. There was great information sharing and new contacts made with other martial artists.

***You'll notice all the changes at the dojo. A group of students have been cleaning, weeding, scraping, painting...spending alot of time and effort to upgrade and make the dojo look great.
